Welcome

WGM and Family Initially, this site was written for my family, who are spread throughout the world, as a simple means for them to see what I have discovered about our mutual ancestors. Although I do hope that other researchers and genealogists are also finding it a useful tool in their research.

As a family historian I have been studying my paternal Miller and my maternal Law lines and their associated families for well over 25 years. So far I have found and documented over 996 individuals and 286 families that are connected to me in some way or another. A few individuals included are, for the sake of tidiness and also to help other researches, the parents of males and females that married into the blood line and are therefore not related to me in a genealogical sense. Many of the individuals are, as yet, not much more than names and dates whilst others a have a story to tell. Some individuals have their own pages that are linked on the left. They are ones like my late father, Ernest William Thomas Miller who left his own biography or others, like Elizabeth Miller who had a family mystery to solve. My first aim was always to try and identify my 16 great, great grandparents and so far I am missing only one. Pinpointing the correct father of Thomas Smith in London is, unsurprisingly, proving to be quite difficult.

What type of people were my ancestors and what did they do? Well, like the majority of people involved in genealogy I have not found any royalty in the family, or at least I have not found them yet. There is however an interesting mix of professions from “Ag Labs” to butchers publicans and policemen.

As my research has gone on I have done my best to make sure all the facts are correct; however mistakes may have been made and anyone using this site to enhance their own research would be well advised to verify my data – just in case. If you spot any mistakes please get in touch via the contact page.

I would also like invite any family member who feels they may have something to add either with additional data or who would like to send me a short biography to get in touch again using the contact page.

Finally, I would like to thank all those who have helped me so far in my research, not only my immediate family, but also all those others that have been in contact with me including some new, though distant, cousins. Many of people have been kind enough to send me copies of photographs and certificates for which I am also very grateful. There are too many people to mention here but suffice to say that your help has been invaluable. I do hope that you will all enjoy using this site as much as I enjoy doing the research.

Thank You

Barry Miller
