In the LDS transcription of the 1881 census Gurr is spelt as GUN. However by 1901 he is running the Duke of Wellington public house in Ashford.

James GURR and Anne Maria MORPHETT had marriage banns published on 29 Oct 1871 in Biddenden, Kent.³⁴ They were married on 25 Nov 1871 in Biddenden, Kent.² Anne Maria MORPHETT was born about 1842 in Frittenden, Kent.³² She was living on 2 Apr 1871 in 2 Jubilee House, Smarden, Kent.¹⁰ She was living on 3 Apr 1881 in 14 Chart Terrace, Ashford, Kent.³³ Ann Maria's Surname was identified from the IGI entry for their marriage. James GURR and Anne Maria MORPHETT had the following children:
